Jim Parisi switches to KVOI; KNST retools morning show
There’s been a shake-up among Tucson’s local morning radio talk shows. Jim Parisi, who hosted the morning show on KNST 790-AM for nearly five years, decided he wanted to own and run his own show so, as of Nov. 30, he’s going to KVOI 1030-AM where he’ll be on the air from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. weekdays.
Former WGN president Shaw named general manager of KVOA 4
KVOA 4’s new general manager is Bill Shaw, who until August 2008 was president of Superstation WGN, now called WGN America. Shaw was at KVOA last week being introduced to staffers. He is to officially take over his new job Jan. 1, replacing Gary Nielsen who has been the general manager since 2002 and is retiring.
Buyouts at the Star and other cuts in printed media world
The Arizona Daily Star lost a handful of newsroom employees Nov. 6 as part of a workforce reduction program in which certain qualifying people were given buyout offers. Among the departures was Ann Brown, who had been the editorial page editor the past four years.
